This opinions story was one of my first articles for the Globe that also was the winner of a local Society of Professional Journalists writing competition. It was about former Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl hiding from the public and press after numerous mayoral scandals.

Story #3: Halfway House Breakout

This was my most important story that I wrote so far. I wrote about how a local halfway house near the Student Center at Point Park had a breakout. I also addressed the steps Point Park goes through in regards to student, staff, and faculty safety.

This was another important story that I wrote, covering the transition between security companies at Point Park. It was also an important story because I was told to change and update a story at the last minute before deadline. Therefore, it shows I can work under pressure.
Story #5: “What is A Union” Event

This was a story that covered the Student Solidarity Organization’s event on what it means to be a union. This was an important story because I had to stay for the presentation, then get interviews from all the major organizers of the event afterwards. In other words, it taught me how to strategize my reporting.

This was a story on many different departments at Point Park receiving name changes. This was the first story where I learned how difficult and time consuming it is to schedule and plan interviews.

This story was on the Fall Fest event coordinated by the CAB and SAEM Clubs at Point Park. This story was a little challenging for interviews because I had to reach out to both sides for comments.
Story 9: New ID’s For Staff and Faculty

This was a big news story, which was covered the staff and faculty of Point Park receiving new ID’s. It was my biggest story with eight sources. This was also the story I pitched to an editor rather than he or she pitching me one.

This was my first story as an intern for the Ellwood City Ledger in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania. In this story, I talk about how the organizers for the annual Ellwood City Arts, Crafts, and Food Festival are preparing for the event.

This story was about the results and highlights of the 35th Annual Ellwood City Ledger 10K race. I also was able to talk to the winner of the race, Dan Petrik.
Story #13: Friends Rallying for Ellwood City Cancer Patient Mary O’Neil
This story was about a woman in Ellwood City named Mary O’Neil who is currently battling stage 3 cancer. It is also about her best friend who organized a spaghetti dinner to help raise funds for her.
Story #14: Name Game: Historical Society Seeks Mannequin Monikers in Its First Contest
In this story, I covered the Ellwood City Area Historical Society and a contest they were having to name five mannequins they have in their possession.

In this story, I once again talked to Becky Guisler to see what was the attendance at the festival and how everything in general went.
