Cover Letter

Dear whoever it may concern,

I understand that you are in need of a reporter who is both hard-working and dedicated to reporting. I am here today to tell you that I am very qualified for that position. I am a graduating journalism major student at PointPark University in Pittsburgh, PA. Over the course of my college career, I have been involved in many different news organizations. I have had two internships. One was with the Ellwood City Ledger in Ellwood City, PA and the other was with the NPR radio station in Pittsburgh called 90.5 WESA. I have also done freelance work with Ledger as well as with the New Castle News in New Castle, PA. I also work as an entertainment reviewer and writer for the entertainment website, Geek Volcano.

I am also a very dedicated and hard-working student who always manages to strive to be the best at everything that I try to. I have gotten involved with the radio station at Point Park, WPPJ, to produce my own radio show once a week. I have worked with both school newspapers, The Globe and the Point Park News Service. I have also worked on the television station on campus, U-View. I have made it to Dean’s list at Point Park, never missed a deadline for any of my stories, and have gotten positive feedback and recommendation from a number of my journalism professors.

I promise that if I am hired for this job, I will be solely dedicated to this position and never lose sight of this opportunity. I will show up to work every day on time, never question any direction or assignment given to me, and work with any deadline given to me. I am able to work on tight deadlines as well as being able to edit information in and out of stories at a moment’s notice. I promise that if I am hired, you will not regret myhiring and I will work hard every day to prove my worth and experience.

My resume will give you a greater understanding of my qualifications. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Nicholas Vercilla
